Ride Ataxia Philadelphia

Thank you to all of our participants and volunteers!

Ride Ataxia Philadelphia 2011 was a huge success with 500 registered cyclists and over $140,000 raised to support FARA's mission- to treat and cure Friedreich's ataxia (FA) through research advancement.

We were also excited to have a record number of participants from our research community as well as people with FA riding bikes, handcycles and trikes this year. Please enjoy these two photo albums from two of our dedicated Ride Ataxia Philly volunteers. Take a look - you might be in there!

FARA is grateful to Outback Steakhouse for helping us to make Ride Ataxia a success. In addition to Outback's support in ride planning and fundraising ($16,000!), Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba's Italian Grill, and Bonefish Grill generously donated their time, talent and food to treat participants and guests to a first rate meal following the ride.

FARA has awarded 9 research grants from Ride Ataxia fundraising over the past 5 years, totaling over $1 million in funded research. All of these grants have supported research with a direct link to advancing treatments. Please accept our deepest gratitude on behalf of the rest of the FARA community--patients, families and scientists. We hope that you will continue to be an active participant in our effort to treat and cure Friedreich's ataxia.

Ride Ataxia Philadelphia 2012 will be on Sunday, October 7 so mark your calendar!
